Mt. Sutro Open Space Preserve
Outdoors🕑
Open anytime
No set schedule — go whenever you like.
You can hike through a historic 80-acre eucalyptus forest planted over a hundred years ago on the slopes of Mt. Sutro in San Francisco, where towering 200-foot trees create an almost otherworldly atmosphere especially when the fog rolls in. The preserve is free to explore and you'll encounter diverse wildlife like woodpeckers and owls while walking trails surrounded by the creaking of ancient trees and bird calls. Fair warning though—some sections have been impacted by ongoing tree removal and closures, so check current trail conditions before heading out.
