Bumpass Hell Trail

You'll be hiking through one of California's most geothermally active areas on this trail, where you can see steaming vents, colorful mineral deposits, and bubbling mud pots up close. It's a moderately challenging 3-mile round trip through Lassen Volcanic National Park with some seriously unique volcanic landscape that feels otherworldly. Fair warning: the sulfur smell is intense and the boardwalk sections can get slippery, so wear good boots.
